Discovering the wines of Japan with Ayana Misawa – Tuesday 11th February

For our next event, not only are we going outside France, but we are going to a completely different continent – and a particularly unusual source of wine at that.
Tuesday 11th February, we are thrilled to welcome Japanese winemaker Ayana Misawa to Bordeaux for a rare tasting of the wines of Grace Wine, arguably Japan’s leading producer.
It was in 1923 that Ayana’s great-great-grandfather Chotaro Misawa established the family winery in Japan’s Yamanashi prefecture. Over the following century, across four generations, the Misawa family have played an integral role in the development of Japanese winemaking, with their award-winning wines attracting ever-increasing attention.
Fifth generation winemaker Ayana became Grace’s Head of Viticulture and Oenology in 2008, after studying at the University of Bordeaux and completing postgraduate studies in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Her arrival heralded the start of a new era for Grace Wine, through the forging of relationships in key export markets. Today, Grace sells its wines in several countries around the world including the US, UK, Sweden, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Join Ayana for what promises to be a hugely insightful masterclass and discover four magical wines – including two of Japan’s signature Koshu grape variety – from these little-known, high-altitude, volcanic vineyards.
