Live From the Vines: Yalumba
Hosted by Nick Ryan, Louisa Rose, Robert Hill Smith & Jessica Hill Smith
It was in 1849 that Dorset-born Samuel Smith dug in his first vines in Australia’s Barossa.
Five generations later, Yalumba is still family-owned, helmed by Robert Hill-Smith, and continues to negotiate – with seemingly consummate ease – the tightrope between commercial success and spectacular fine wines.
Hosted by Australian wine expert Nick Ryan alongside Jessica Hill Smith and head winemaker Louisa Rose, this exploration of a New World superstar looks back at Yalumba’s trailblazing past, its unflinching innovation, and cracks open a range of wines which have forged its reputation.
Available as a tasting kit to digital members, this is an opportunity to taste its glorious Viognier, The Virgilius, an old-vine Shiraz in the form of The Octavius, and its stellar, archetypal Cab-Shiraz blend, The Caley, regarded as ‘the pinnacle of a long winemaking journey of excellence.’
