The Wine & Food of Bordeaux & the South-West France
£45.00 – £90.00Following the success of 67 Pall Mall’s first book ‘Wine and Food. The Perfect Match,’ we are delighted to bring you our much-anticipated second book, ‘The Wine & Food of Bordeaux & the South West of France.’ For this edition, we offer a deep-dive exploration of one of the best wine-producing regions of the world. The first half of the book is dedicated to a comprehensive study of Bordeaux’s great wines, with Ronan Sayburn MS guiding readers through the mysteries of terroir and discussing the world’s best grape varieties; where they grow and why they taste the way they do. Advice is also given on the best way to drink different wines and how to host an unforgettable wine-led dinner. In Ronan’s words, “the food of a region often matches its wines perfectly. The great wines of Bordeauxʼs Left and Right Banks should be served with France’s gastronomic classics.” As such, the second half of the book is dedicated to more than 50 exquisite recipes that pair with these wines. Everything from mushrooms on toast, to salt-marsh lamb, to elaborate desserts from South West France is covered, so there is a dish – and an expertly-paired bottle – for everyone. Written with the passion of the true wine lover and aimed at all levels of wine aficionados, this book is an expert guide through Bordeaux’s greatest pairings and belongs in everyone’s kitchen. Saint-Emilion Grands Crus Walkaround Tasting – Wednesday 29th January
£75.00While we know that many Members enjoy in-depth tastings of individual properties, guided by the winemaker themselves, we are equally aware that others enjoy a broader, more relaxed approach. Specifically, we have been asked for more walkaround tastings, where Members can come and go as they please, with the freedom to cherry-pick wines to taste at their own pace. We are delighted, then, to welcome a selection of St Emilion Grands Crus to the Club to showcase the 2020 vintage in just such a format. On a relaxed Wednesday evening at the end of January, a total of 20 châteaux will each present their grand vin from this reputed vintage, alongside one other, older wine of their choosing. The 2020 vintage was the third in an acclaimed Bordeaux triumvirate that saw a warm, early harvest of high quality and low yields. On first release, the wines of the Right Bank were generally seen as more consistent than those of the Left, with St-Emilion’s preponderance of Merlot making for rich, concentrated, dark-fruited wines that will undoubtedly benefit from time in cellar. Four years on from their first taste, this will be a wonderful opportunity to assess their evolution in bottle. Each producer will be represented by the owner, winemaker or other representative, who will be on hand to provide as much insight and detail as Members might want. We hope to see you there. The wines that will be available to taste: 2020 & 2016 Château Badette, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2019 Château Bellefont Belcier, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2015 Château Chauvin, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2016 Clos de l’Oratoire, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2017 Château Croix de Labrie, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2019 Château de Ferrand, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2010 Château de Pressac, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2016 Château Faugères, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2016 Château Peby Faugères, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2019 Château Fonplégade, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2019 Château Fonroque, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2016 Château Grand Corbin, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2016 Grand Corbin-Despagne, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2018 Château La Confession, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2015 Château La Croizille, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2016 Château Tour Baladoz, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2015 Château La Fleur Morange, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2019 Château Laroque, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2015 Château Laroze, St-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 & 2015 Château Montlabert, St-Emilion Grand Cru Wednesday 29th January St. James's Room 18:30 - Walkaround tasting starts 20:30 - Walkaround tasting endsRead morePlease note, tickets are refundable for cancellations up to 5 days before the event. Raymond Blake’s Burgundy
£125.00Join our fellow Member and part-time Burgundy resident, Raymond Blake, as he takes us on a virtual visit to the world’s most celebrated wine region. Raymond spent 10 days over New Year in Burgundy, out and about in the vineyards and visiting cellars, as well as attending to matters culinary – cooking the seasonal capon on New Year’s Day – and investigating whether it matches better with red or white wine. Thanks to Raymond’s insider knowledge we will get ‘behind the labels’ to learn the back-story of the wines we taste. Members can expect an informal wine tasting, rather than a structured masterclass, focusing on the people and the place as much as the wine in your glass. Illustrated with his own photographs and presented by way of tale and anecdote, Raymond’s presentation will both entertain and inform. He will also have an up-to-the-minute report on the just-released 2019 vintage from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – known as ‘DRC’ across the wine world but always simply as ‘The Domaine’ to Burgundy insiders. The Wines that will be tasted: 2016 Puligny-Montrachet, 1er Cru, Les Folatieres, Domaine Jean Chartron 2018 Saint-Aubin, 1er Cru, En Montceau, Domaine Marc Colin et Fils 2018 Chassagne Montrachet, 1er Cru, La Maltroie, Philippe Colin 2017 Côte Chalonnaise, La Digoine, Domaine A&P de Villaine 2017 Volnay, 1er Cru, En Cailleret, Clos des 60 Ouvrées, Domaine de la Pousse d’Or 2019 Chambolle-Musigny, Domaine de la Pousse d'Or 2016 Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vieilles Vignes, Domaine Robert Chevillon Friday 18th February St. James’s Room 18:30 – Welcome Drinks 19:00 - Masterclass begins 20.30 – Masterclass ends £125 per ticketAdd to cart -

Five-vintage masterclass of Château d’Yquem going back to 1985 – Monday 17th February
£195.00Some wines need little introduction. And so it is with Château d’Yquem, undoubtedly the most famous – and in the eyes of most people, the finest – sweet wine in the world. We are thrilled, then, to announce a rather special tasting of the Sauternes 1er cru classé superieur, hosted by the property’s estate manager, and spanning five vintages of the grand vin, going back to 1985, as well as the dry wine, Y. There is little to say about Yquem that hasn’t already been said, but perhaps this note on the 1990 (also included in the tasting) from our good friend Jane Anson will help set the scene: ‘Exuberant, concentrated and luscious; a beautiful wine that still has decades ahead of it and clearly shows why Yquem stands in its own category in the appellation.’ Instead, then, we’ll tell you about Lorenzo Pasquini, Yquem’s estate manager and our host for the evening. Lorenzo arrived at Yquem in 2020 having worked at Robert Mondavi winery in California, Cheval des Andes in Argentina and Châteaux Palmer and Giscours in Bordeaux. The advice he received from Yquem president Pierre Lurton on taking the reins? ‘Never compromise on quality.’ ‘Yquem is a very emotional wine, very complex but very easy to love,’ he says. ‘In order to maintain it at its own rank, every year we have to find the 0.1% improvement that will make the difference.’ Join us to find out how they do it, and for a rare opportunity to taste these wines. Please note, we expect this event to be popular, and early booking is recommended. The wines we will be tasting: 2017 Y d’Yquem (Ygrec), Bordeaux Superieur Blanc 2022 Château d’Yquem, 1er Cru Superieur, Sauternes 2010 Château d’Yquem, 1er Cru Superieur, Sauternes 2005 Château d’Yquem, 1er Cru Superieur, Sauternes 1990 Château d’Yquem, 1er Cru Superieur, Sauternes 1985 Château d’Yquem, 1er Cru Superieur, Sauternes Monday 17th February St. James’s Room 19:30 – Welcome reception 20:00 – Masterclass begins 21:30 – Masterclass endsRead morePlease note, tickets are refundable for cancellations up to 5 days before the event.
