Established in 2021 to support, honour and celebrate ‘the best of the best’ in the world of fine wine, The Golden Vines Awards are the centrepiece of an annual weekend featuring a spectacular series of tastings, lunches and gala dinners, as well as an auction of knockout wine experiences. Proceeds from the event contribute to The Gérard Basset Foundation, supporting its mission of advancing inclusivity and diversity within wine, spirits and hospitality across the globe, and empowering those from under-represented and disadvantaged backgrounds through scholarships, mentoring and training.

For this year's edition, held in Madrid, 67 Pall Mall was delighted to be a sponsor, as well as hosting a table at the two evening dinners, where Members and invited guests from the wine trade were joined by our COO Adrian Garforth MW and Head of Wine (Europe) Kathrine Larsen-Robert MS (seen above, DP rosé in hand), along with Content Consultant Guy Woodward.

67 sponsored the Best Fine Wine Producer (Rest of the World) award, which Adrian presented to Johann Henschke of the eponymous Australian producer. Adrian also helped judge the Sustainability Award, which went to New Zealand’s Felton Road, whose owner Nigel Greening, seen below, gave a powerful acceptance speech featuring a plea for the wine world to act in the face of climate change, lest we 'lose it all'. (Look out for the Felton Road Members’ dinner hosted by Nigel at the London Club later this month.)

Other winners included Harlan Estate, Vega Sicilia, Sadie Family Wines and Familia Torres. Meanwhile, our good friend (and go-to man in Burgundy) Jasper Morris MW was presented with the Hall of Fame Award, for his contribution to the industry over the course of five decades. See here for Jasper’s post-event reflections on the secret to great winemaking and wine-writing.
