Dual Elements with Moorooduc Estate

Tuesday 17th September 2024

It’s been 40 years since the McIntyre family first established themselves as advocates for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on the Mornington Peninsula. After being one of the first to plant Pinot Noir in the region in 1983, albeit only two rows, Dr Richard McIntyre along with his daughter Kate (now a Master of Wine) have become renowned for their openness to early experimentation with wild ferments and longer maceration times. With a restructuring of the winemaking focus towards single vineyard expressions in 2010, Moorooduc continues to showcase the diversity and sustainability of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on the peninsula.

Our Members will be taken through a guided masterclass tasting of two of these single sites – the Robinson and McIntyre vineyards – by Kate McIntyre MW.

Central Otago Elegance with Paul Pujol of Prophet’s Rock

Wednesday 25th September 2024

Amidst the high plateaus and limestone soils of the Cromwell Basin in Central Otago, Paul Pujol is crafting some of New Zealand’s most elegant expressions of cool-climate varieties. First planted in 1999, soon after the region was established, the name Prophet’s Rock has become synonymous with aromatic white styles and premium Pinot Noir, informed by Paul’s time working in Alsace and Burgundy. Soon after his time working at historic Domaine Georges Comte de Vogue in Chambolle-Musigny, Paul developed a winemaking partnership with Francois Millet, with the first release of their joint venture Cuvée Aux Antipodes in 2015 received to critical acclaim.

This unique combination of Old World and New World approaches to terroir provides our Members with the opportunity to indulge and explore the latest release of this project at our upcoming masterclass, hosted by Prophet’s Rock owner and winemaker, Paul Pujol.

Shades of Provence with Domaines Ott

Thursday 3rd October 2024

It was over 100 years ago when Alsace-born Marcel Ott fell in love with the white sands, olive trees and windswept shores of Provence. Acquiring his first estate, Château de Selle in 1912, followed by two more sites, Clos Mireille and Château Romassan, Domaines Ott soon developed a reputation for expressing the diversity, elegance and Mediterranean sun in its expressions of Provençal white and red varieties. Now in their fourth generation, the Ott family winemaking legacy is driven by their sustainable approach to viticulture, gentle winemaking, and respect for local varieties and the micro-climates of their respective estates.

Hosted in the private dining room of Donovans, nestled on the St Kilda foreshore, Members are invited to join Christophe Renard of Domaines Ott in an exploration of the Clos Mireille estate, a pioneer in white wine production in the region since the 1930s, followed by an introduction to Étoile – a unique expression of the family’s three estates and an insight into the diversity of Bandol and Provence as regions.
