WINE AND FRIENDS MAKE A GREAT PAIRING…SOLISTE WINERY SONOMA COAST
Soliste is a highly appropriate name for this vinous collaboration between old friends Elisabeth & Claude Koeberle and Beth & Donald Plumley; in Burgundy, a winemaker often reserves a special barrel or a ‘soliste’ for their family and friends.
From the Dagueneau-inspired St Andelain Sauvignon Blanc to the MonoClone single vineyard, single clone, single cooperage Pinot Noirs that express the purest essence of a vineyard, Soliste produce California wines of finesse, balance and elegance.
Claude Koeberle, Soliste’s head winemaker, hails from Burgundy where he was born into a family whose tradition in the wine industry dates back decades. Claude grew up knowing many of Burgundy’s greatest vignerons including Henri Jayer, who joined the family table at Claude’s home. Although he achieved remarkable success as a former Michelin 3 Starred Chef in Paris (trained under Bocuse & Alain Chapel), he never lost his passion for wine, and Pinot Noir in particular.
Soliste have been particularly inspired by winemakers who have challenged the status quo to elevate their region or cépage to grand cru level. Central to their philosophy is to be bold, experimental and take risks; not arbitrarily, but with intent, diligence, and with a long term vision.
We are privileged to welcome Donald Plumley, owner & vintner, to the Club to guide Members through a Masterclass dinner of these superb California expressions.
