SAVING ONE OF THE BEST UNTIL LAST…A MASTERCLASS DINNER with CHATEAU CANTEMERLE

Cantemerle is a 5ème cru classé, located in the appellation of Haut-Médoc. Château Cantemerle was the last entry in the 1855 Classification, and in fact something of a late entry…

Three small inches on the classification document decided the fate of Bordeaux’s red wine producers between a line of classed and un-classed growths. In completely different handwriting, smaller and squeezed above the fatal line, is written “Cantemerle, Mme de Villeneuve Durfort, Macau “. Someone other than the writer of the original list evidently wrote this phrase after the 18th of April, when the document was originally published…

The vineyard is no less deserving however, and Château Cantemerle’s residence is amongst the most beautiful of any château in the Médoc located in the communes of Macau and Ludon. It is thanks to their unique terroir of deep and fine gravel soil that Cantemerle can produce complex, well-balanced and refined wines…

The estate’s long history is reflected in the château’s distinctive architecture and the picturesque grounds that surround it, and attractive even when quite young, the wine is rich, powerful and smooth. It is made by an experienced and enthusiastic team using a careful blend of traditional and state-of-the-art techniques.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming Laurence Beuton of Château Cantemerle to host a Masterclass dinner, who will share the history and development of some of the most stunning hectares of the Médoc.
