Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) Masterclass

It is a privilege to welcome Christophe Salin, Senior Advisor to Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) to the Club, who will conduct an exquisite tasting of a collection of wines from the group which, along with Château Lafite, include the highly praised Château Duhart-Milon, a fourth growth, whose single block of vines sits on the west side of Château Lafite.

Members will also taste Carruades de Lafite, the second wine of Château Lafite, which is as sought after as the top wines of Bordeaux. The line-up also includes Château L’Évangile, the property Baron Eric de Rothschild bought in 1990 and declared “a unique terroir, irresistible, very different to the Médoc but absolutely outstanding”, and to conclude, the 1er Grand Cru Sauternes, Château Rieussec, whose 2001 vintage was declared the Wine of the Year in 2004 by the Wine Spectator.

The theme of the tasting is the “5s”; Bordeaux is renowned for making great wines in the years ending in 5, and the vintages chosen will demonstrate the true greatness of each Château. We also include the renowned 2005, which many regard as one of Bordeaux’s greatest vintages in the last 30 years.

Having been in charge of the company for 33 years, Christophe Salin has a wealth of stories and anecdotes to ensure that this rare evening will be entertaining and captivating, as well as a truly unforgettable tasting.
