Pomerol Masterclass
Unlike other Bordeaux regions, Pomerol has no official wine ranking or classification, but with the likes of Pétrus and Château Le Pin in their midst, there is clearly something very special about this terroir.
With around 150 producers and roughly 740 hectares under vine, Pomerol is on the smaller side of Bordeaux’s major appellations with many winemakers producing little more than 1,000 cases per year. Whilst Pomerol is part of Bordeaux, it differs in climate and geology; the best vineyards are planted on a seam of rich clay extending across the raised plateau of Pomerol, from the boundary of St Émilion.
Although the wineries may have achieved great success, many of their owners are still farmers at heart, with the region operating on a very approachable and direct scale. On Tuesday 18th December, our sommeliers will be guiding Members through a Masterclass of this celebrated and affable wine region.
We will taste:
2009 Château La Croix de Gay
2005 Clos du Clocher
2004 Château la Conseillante
2001 Château Clos L’Eglise
2000 Vieux Château Certan
