a night at the opera

Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Nevill Holt Opera has been creating world-class opera in the East Midlands since 2013.

Marking last year’s season was the opening of a 400-seat opera theatre within a Grade II* listed courtyard – this masterpiece designed by Stirling Prize winning architects is an approachable space, acoustically designed specifically for young, developing voices, supporting Nevill Holt’s long-term mission to support young talent.

We invite Members to the Nevill Holt Opera, where champagne and canapés will be served on arrival in a private pavilion, before viewing a 5pm performance of Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Dinner will be served during the dining interval with expertly-paired wines to accompany, and the performance of a take on one of Shakespeare’s most famous pieces of work will close at 9:30pm…

A lovers tiff between fairy-king Oberon and his queen Tytania leads to a night of mistaken identities, confused lovers and alarming transformations. With a magical score by Benjamin Britten, this new production for NHO will be directed by Anna Morrissey (Noye’s Fludde 2017) and designed by Simon Kenny (Le Nozze di Figaro 2018).

We are very grateful to Nevill Holt Opera for allowing us to host our Members in such beautiful surroundings. I do hope you are able to join us for this fantastic event.
