austrian tasting
Two thousand years of winemaking history in Austria counted for little when, in the mid-1980s, the adulteration scandal essentially destroyed the market for Austrian wines.

However, this could have been the industry’s saving grace. Whilst it took a decade to recover from the short term collapse, the country started to focus on other wine types, predominantly dry white. New regulations restricted yields, which increased quality and prevented the previous quality issues that bulk production had encouraged.
Austria now produces some of the finest wines in the world, and Terry Kandylis, our Head Sommelier, will be guiding Members through a selection of some of the country’s best having just returned from a trip to this stunning wine-making country…
